Disney On Ice is coming soon to Vancouver soon to showcase their magical performance, Dare To Dream, which features Disney's newest princess Rapunzel {from "Tangled"} and her long golden hair. In honour of Vancouver's premier of Dare To Dream, Disney On Ice is teaming up with Hype Hair Studio and Balding for Dollars to help raise awareness and to benefit underserved children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. The community is invited to cut and donate their hair at Hype Hair Studio between November 5th - 9th, 2012.
As a token of appreciation for donating your hair, Disney On Ice will give you a free family pack of four tickets valued at $96 {available for the first 50 donations} to a Disney On Ice presents Dare To Dream show, which also features Disney princesses Tianna and Cinderella. Dare To Dream will be showing in Vancouver at the Pacific Coliseum from November 21st - 25th, 2012.
Children are also encouraged to donate and help their fellow peers that are suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The fitted hairpieces require 20 ponytails and are handmade in 40-60 hours. What a great way to teach the gift of giving to your children in time for the holiday season!
*Please follow these hair donation guidelines:
- Hair must be clean and dry prior to cutting
- The minimum length for hair donations is 8 inches.
- Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 8 inches.
- Hair that has been chemically processed cannot be accepted.
- Grey hair is acceptable.
- Donations must be tightly bound in a ponytail or secured with rubber bands one at each end of the ponytail and in the middle; and placed in a sealed plastic bag.

Balding for Dollars are fun fundraising events that include head shaves and chopped locks and are organized by parents, hospital staff, friends, family, and communities touched by childhood cancers and blood disorders. Their goal is to raise awareness and funds to support the Oncology, Hematology and BMT {Bone Marrow Transplant} programs at BC Children's Hospital.
