SodaStream Canada Review & Giveaway

Ever since my husband and I visited Europe a few years ago, we've been obsessed with "bubble" water.  It seems that the European lifestyle makes it mandatory to have soda water with every meal.  Perhaps it's the secret of how Europeans stay so thin - the bubbles in the water fill you up, therefore, you don't eat as much.  That's my husband's theory anyways.

I also have this obsession that I need to have a beverage with some sort of carbonation to satisfy my "bubble" craving.  If it's pop or soda, I only need to have a sip to satisfy the craving.  But if it's just soda water, I could drink bottles and bottles of it.

So how genius is it to be able to have your own machine that actually carbonates drinks for you?  Think of it as like having a coffee or espresso machine, or a kettle to boil water, or a microwave to heat up your food.  Think of how many bottles you'll be conserving and how much money you'll be saving by making your own flavoured carbonated drinks.  Think about how swank you'll look to your house guests when you whip out your very own SodaStream machine to make their desired carbonated beverage on the spot!

Over the holidays, we were able to review SodaStream's Jet White Starter Kit.  Given the size of the machine, I was quite surprised at how light it was and how flimsy the plastic felt.  If I'm not mistaken, I believe the "Jet" model is SodaStream's budget-friendly model and the other models do vary in price and quality.  That being said, I have no complaints as to how the machine itself works.  My husband was easily able to attach the CO2 carbinator canister to the machine and I was able to make our very first bottle of carbonated water - without looking at the instructions.

Okay, maybe I should have read the instructions first.  Because the instructions clearly tell you to ensure that the bottle is screwed onto the machine before you press the carbonating button.  Doh!  Someone got an unexpected shower.  Lesson learned and laughs aside, this SodaStream machine is a very valued member of our family now.  There's no longer panic when we open the fridge and can't find a carbonated beverage.  Nope!  Now we just take out our SodaStream bottle {which has an expiry date, by the way}, fill it with water, flavour it with syrup if necessary, and add bubbles.

Using the machine is fool proof {as long as you read the instructions!} and, for me, it usually only takes three or four pumps of the carbonating button before I achieve our desired fizz.  And the best thing about SodaStream is that the fizz actually lasts until the last drop.  No more flat sodas!

I can't wait to add to my collection of SodaStream bottles so that we have can have a variety of carbonated beverages at hand, at any given time.  I'm also excited because it seems like there's no end to the number of flavour variations and soda mixes to make a SodaStream creation your very own - can't wait to try all the different flavours!
