Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd...
Summer is here and so are the Vancouver Canadians! They celebrated their home opener on June 17th and we had a chance to experience a game in person last Saturday. To tell you the truth, I'm not a huge baseball fan but I am a fan of sports and going to live sporting events, and the Vancouver Canadians did not disappoint!
As soon as we entered the Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, the energy was contagious and I felt like I was at one of those classic ball games you see in the movies. We grabbed a bag of peanuts and cotton candy for the kids, and shared a poutine while hubby and I enjoyed a glass of Mike's Hard {rewind back to 2001!}.
The game was really fun to watch {did I tell you how much I love seeing live sporting events?!} and the crowd was in good spirits. We did the "wave" and sang a rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", and were also treated to a cameo of The Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky {his son was playing for the opposing team}!
I would definitely recommend a trip to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium for a family night out this summer - you won't regret it! I mean, who can regret witnessing an entertaining dance number from a bunch of talented groundskeepers?

Have you heard? The VCBF is back for another year of baseball fun - encouraging and teaching young children how to play baseball, many of whom would not have the opportunity to do so. After a successful season last year, the VCBF is committed to continue supporting children in their quest to stay active and help build their self-confidence. The kids are taught by local sports personalities and community figures and they will receive free equipment they get to keep {glove, bag, helmet, etc.}, free meals, free transportation to and from the stadium as well as a weekly talk by an elite level athlete or inspiring leader geared to promoting self esteem and leadership skill.
The VCBF season kicked off on July 9th and runs over a seven week period.
